Slip Sheet Benefit

The Slip Sheet Benefit model calculates financial benefit of using slip sheets rather than pallets. Some benefits are not taken into account in the calculation, e.g. possible reduction of storage space, reduced risks to injuries of workers, and reduced risks of rodent / insect infestation.

  1. Open Slip Sheet Benefits
    In Ocean Freight Solutions, click Slip Sheet Benefits.

  1. Enter Background Information
    Enter the total TEU handled by the client. Then enter the percentage of the TEU which is currently palletized and the percentage of the palletized TEU that could be slip sheeted instead.
  2. Enter Container Fill Benefits
    Estimated cost per TEU: Enter the average cost of moving a container (the cost is a sum of Ocean Freight Costs, Terminal Costs, Trucking Costs, and Other Costs)
    Average pallet layers in a container: Enter the average number of pallet layers you would expect to put in a container. The model works on the basis that each pallet is 12.5 cm high.
    Height that can be reused with goods: The model automatically calculates the cm that are wasted by using pallets. Enter the number of cm that can be reused with goods.
  3. Enter Labor & Material Benefits
    Estimated cost per man hour: Enter the average cost per hour of each team member required to unload a container.
    Both for palletized cargo and for slip sheeted cargo enter the following details:
    Manpower per TEU: Enter the number of people that are required to load / unload a container.
    Time per person per TEU: Enter the amount of time in hours it takes for one person to unload goods.
    Estimated cost of a pallet / slip sheet: Enter the unit cost of a pallet / slip sheet.
  4. Enter Other Related Costs
    Fumigation costs: Enter the average fumigation costs per TEU and the % of TEU that will require fumigation
    One time investment costs: Enter the number of slip sheet attachment units that will be required for a full roll out of this proposal and the equipment cost that are expected for each slip sheet attachment unit.
  5. Check the summary of the calculation
    The summary at the bottom of the page will show the benefits for the individual cost types and the total benefit for this business case.
